The teaching school hubs and Science Learning Partnership are joining forces to offer this fully-funded, focused professional development event for primary teachers and leaders of science across Yorkshire and the Humber.
By the end of this CPD, you will be able to:
• Describe and enact activities that will support the acquisition of scientific vocabulary
• Use strategies for raising attainment in science through developing speaking and listening
• Give examples of opportunities for linking science and English
• Describe how to raise attainment in science through developing effective writing skills to communicate scientific ideas.
• Consider strategies for raising attainment in science through integrating reading activities into the science lesson.
Facilitator name:
Jane is a Chartered Science Teacher, a Fellow of the Primary Science Teaching Trust and a Senior Facilitator for STEM Learning. She is a former local authority advisor for science with extensive experience of training teachers at all stages in their career and writes educational resources for a number of national organisations including Association of Science Education, National Farmers Union, Environment Agency and STEM Learning.
Jane has 30 years experience in the education sector and continues to teach part time and lead science at her school. OfSTED commended her “impressive science curriculum. They know precisely what they want pupils to learn and when. Lessons are taught well. Pupils achieve highly.”
