The Doncaster ITT Partnership is the only accredited initial teacher training (ITT) provider in Doncaster, one of only five in the whole of South Yorkshire!
Our partnership was formed to help Doncaster schools recruit, train and retain qualified teachers through ‘home-grown’ schools-based training. Since our first cohort of trainees started in September 2003, we’ve trained hundreds of primary, secondary & special school teachers. Most choose to stay and teach in Doncaster, often in one of their training schools, and many are now in senior posts in our schools helping to train the next generation of teachers.
- We offer SCITT (School Centred ITT) & School Direct programmes, with all training delivered in Doncaster in a range of contrasting schools.
- Trainees can focus on achieving their Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or additionally complete an optional PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate in Education) delivered in Doncaster or on-line, by our Partner University.
- As a genuinely schools-based ITT Provider, school colleagues steer the Strategic Management Board, enabling the partnership to consistently deliver ‘outstanding’ trainee attainment.
We believe that our model of ITT works because the Partnership is more than just the sum of its parts: Doncaster Council, local schools & academies, Partners in Learning (including Doncaster Research School), the University of Hull and the Barnsley and Doncaster Teaching School Hub – it is a genuine partnership of people who passionately believe that teacher training can and should be delivered with the student at the very heart of why and how we deliver training.
